Biography

Howard Rego is a veteran of the music business, both internationally and in Bermuda. He began his career as the drummer in The Savages (Bermuda's answer to the Beatles) with two Bermuda number one hit singles in the 60s. After furthering his studies at Boston's famed Berklee School of Music, Howard spent many years on the music scene in New York City. He played with world-class musicians in The Rocky Horror Show, with Sly & The Family Stone at Radio City Music Hall on six separate occasions, and toured with Peter Frampton, Edgar Winter and Danny Kalb (of The Blues Project).

He also toured South America, spending time in Brazil honing his Latin rhythms, before performing and recording in Europe, and finally returned to his home on the island of Bermuda.

With his professional credentials, Howard became an integral part of the music scene, playing with all the top players. Howard has a reputation of being able to put a band together for any occasion, featuring all musical styles. His knowledge of all the top key musicians on the island and his contacts within the local community make him a popular choice of many convention departments and event coordinators.

From classical music to rock, contemporary to Latin jazz, calypso to reggae, and everything in between - whatever the musical request - it can be fulfilled in Bermuda. Howard coordinates the musicians and equipment to suit the requirements of each client, and every band is tailor made for the occasion.

In recent years Howard has produced MusicQuest, a series of special shows at The Bermuda Musical & Dramatic Society, featuring the different musical styles of Jazz, Blues, R & B, Caribbean Jazz, and Rock & Roll. Each show featured a different band and all played to sell-out crowds.

Howard has also had several of his bands featured as the opening act for the Bermuda Jazz Festival and many world famous musicians, including Pancho Sanchez, Hootie and the Blow Fish and The Beach Boys, showing the versatility and caliber of talent in Bermuda.

His latest project has been the formation of The Booze Brothers, an eight-piece Rhythm and Blues, Soul Band. Loosely based on the Blues Brothers, the band features many of our top musicians, and the line-up is very popular on the island, playing in a concert style to sell-out crowds.
